On Tuesday afternoon, an accident occurred on the South Side involving a Metra Electric Line train. Two people were pinned under the train for yet unknown reasons at the intersection of 75th St and South Exchange Ave.

One of the men was pronounced dead at the scene while the other was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. His condition was listed as critical. The cause of the accident is currently unknown.

Early Sunday morning, a crash occurred on the Southeast Side. Around 1:50am, the driver of an SUV lost control driving southbound along South Chicago Ave, causing the vehicle to flip several times. There were no other vehicles involved.

Of the six people in the SUV, four were injured. A 9 year old girl and a 10 year old boy were taken to the University of Chicago Corner Children’s Hospital in serious condition. The driver was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition and the last victim was taken to Jackson Park Hospital and Medical Center in unknown condition.

Two vehicles were involved in a collision in the East Garfield Park neighborhood early this morning. Around 3:30am, a van and an SUV collided at the intersection of Jackson St and California Ave. The SUV caught fire after the crash.

One person in the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. Two people were taken to Stroger Hospital and a third was taken to Mt Sinai Hospital for treatment. Their conditions were not released. Police are investigating the crash.

On Tuesday night, a crash occurred in the Grand Crossing neighborhood. Around 8:40pm, two vehicles crashed at East 79th St and South Stony Island Ave. The cause of the crash and the manner in which it occurred were not reported.

Seven people were injured. An adult and a child were in taken to hospitals in serious to critical condition. Two more adults were taken to the hospital in fair to serious condition, and the other three were in good condition.

A train derailment occurred on Friday causing a fiery explosion. The derailment occurred in Rockford when 18 cars loaded with ethanol went off the tracks and exploded. The fire continued through much of Saturday.

A woman on the train left her car after the derailment and made it 20 feet before falling and dying. Another person, a 17 year old girl, was critically injured and taken to Stroger Hospital where she remained in critical but stable condition.
