Former OU Student Sues University over Burns, Disfigurement

May 28th, 2008 · No Comments

An Ohio University alumnus is suing the school over severe burns he sustained during a required wilderness survival trip in 2006. Christopher Mance, a senior at the time, suffered an epileptic seizure during the trip and fell face-first into a fire, causing him to suffer third- and fourth-degree burns to his face, hands, and arms, as well as damage to his brain.

According to Mance’s lawsuit, OU was negligent in failing to provide medical supervision and/or testing before and during the survival trip. Mance’s family claims they were unaware of the dangers that the trip’s irregular sleeping and eating habits posed to an epileptic like Mance.

As compensation for disfigurement, future medical expenses, and lost wages, the family is seeking in excess of $300,000 in damages.

If you have been burned or injured because another person or organization was negligent, they ought to be held liable for your injuries. Call a Chicago personal injury lawyer from Friedman & Bonebrake, P.C. at 312-466-8200 today.
