<p>According to the suit, Louise Jones&#8217; injuries required her to undergo knee replacement surgery, running up nearly $40,000 in medical bills. In finding for the plaintiff, the Jackson County jury awarded Louise Jones $100,000 in compensation and $160,000 in punitive damages, and Fred Jones $5,000 in compensation and $80,000 in punitive damages.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The mother of two girls killed in a collision between their vehicle and an Illinois State Police cruiser has filed suit against the officer involved, the state of Illinois, and the Illinois State Police.</p>
<p>According to the lawsuit, a police cruiser driven by trooper Matt Mitchell was responding to the scene of another accident, driving at over 120 mph, when it crossed the median of I-64, slamming into the Mazda 6 sedan driven by Jessica and Kelli Uhl, killing both girls. Mitchell, who is recovering well from his injuries, faces charges of reckless homicide for his role in the accident.</p>
<p>The lawsuit, filed by Kimberly Dorsey, the mother of both deceased girls, is seeking $24 million in damages as compensation for the accident and deaths.</p>
